Recent events regarding the loss of CDs and Laptops containing sensitive personal data prompted the UK Cabinet Office to set up a review to improve data handling and many organisations are aware of the potential embarrassment and financial penalties that can be applied.
One of the four core measures identified in the review relates to building 'a culture that properly values, protects and uses data'. Furthermore one of the recommendations sets out 'mandatory training for data users and senior managers'.
